Roy's First Hunt
I believe Roy thinks he went for the best walk ever yesterday. We spent about 4 hours chasing something (Ruffed Grouse) around a valley. We saw 8 or 9 and came home with 4. Roy didn't mind the sound of the gun, came back or turned to find us when he got out a little too far, and had a good fetch on the last bird. Today he seems top be a little on the tired side and has been crashed out since we got back from the morning walk. Hopefully as the season goes on, I'll be able to get some photos of him at work...

Congrats on the fetch
my grandpa used to tie birds wings to the end of his fishin line to teach his dog's to retrieve birds. Roy might be a little old for that I don't know. But I thought it was cool.
Thanks, Juli. The wing on the rod is one of Roy's favorite games. It's pretty interesting training a dog - things like the wing and rod really give you a snapshot of the instincts a bird dog has. Roy will be shaking he's so excited about the wing. I think it would be cool to really understand how intense their sense of smell is. God created some pretty cool beasts...
